Morphological Studies on the Hemolymph Node in the Sika Deer

Abstract
Deer hemolymph nodes were studied by gross anatomy and light microscopy. Hemolymph nodes were scattered in the periphery of thoracic and abdominal aortae, and were ovoid in shape.
The color of hemolymph nodes was gray with especially red band. A hemolymph node consisted of a relatively thick capsule and a hilum, The capsule and the trabecula were collagenous connective tissue with smooth muscle cells.
A hemolymph node had a typical cortex and medulla. A few lymphatic nodules and lymph vessels observed in nodes. The sinus of nodes was filled with lymphocytes and erythrocytes, The stroma of hemolymph node was composed of reticular cells and
fibers. The
parenchyma consisted of many lymphocytes and erythrocytes, macrophages and megakaryocytes,
The above findings suggest that the hemolymph node is involved in blood filtration and immune reaction.
